Our Story!
First off we want to say thank you to all our wonderful patrons that share our posts, visit us each year, follow us on social media and of course purchase our beautiful plants.
We wanted to share the story of Escamilla Gardens with all of you, to show you all that we are more than just a “plant sale in our front yard.” Though that’s technically true, we are so much more including a state inspected and licensed nursery.
We opened our yard to you in 2020, but the idea started in 2011. We had purchased our first home in 2010 and had our first baby in 2011. We were very busy trying our best to make life work with the whirlwinds of being new parents and being homeowners for the first time. Money and time was tight. So, starting a plant business from the ground up was not something that could be done in the near future. We did however, start following other plant people online and making plans for the future. I even spent money, we did not have at the time, to join an online plant group. (My wife was not very happy about that one)
Fast forward to 2014, we moved to a bigger house and had another baby. Money and time became a little more available to us. This is when we started tinkering around, experimenting and killing a lot of plants.
Years went by and the kids got bigger, jobs got better and we finally decided we were in the best position to open up Escamilla Gardens.
Again, we may be a small plant shop but we are mighty. We spend hours researching, starting, growing and maintaining our own plants. We start our plants from seed, cuttings, divisions and grow them all year round, caring for them until they are ready to be taken home to you. We also make our own soil to be used in all of our perennial plants.
This is our fourth year bringing you plants that we have lovingly grown and cared for. We have big plans for the future and want nothing more than to have all of you join us on our journey. From our garden to yours, plant a little Sunshine.
